50 years ago: Saab introduces the 99

Saab introduced the 99 50 years ago. It stood out from its predecessor, the 96, with a forward-thinking look that defined Saab's design language for years to come. Early models came with a Triumph-sourced 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine, while later cars were available with a 145-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo four.   


Mercedes-Benz shows next A-Class' interior

Mercedes-Benz has released the first official images of what the next-generation A-Class looks like inside. Markedly more modern than the current car, the next A borrows its dual screen setup from the bigger E-Class and S-Class models. We won't get the hatchback, but we'll receive the first-ever A-Class Sedan late next year or in early 2019. The all-new A-Class will make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show.   


Classic Peugeot sells for $7.2 million

Auction house Bonhams recently sold a 1914 Peugeot L45 Grand Prix for $7.2 million. It's the most expensive Peugeot ever sold. The 91-year old model took third place in the 1916 edition of the Indianapolis 500.   


Volvo begins production of all-new XC40

Volvo has official commenced production of its compact XC40 premium crossover. Built in Belgium, the new XC40 will make it across the ocean to showrooms on these shores in early 2018.   


Bentley building 19 Mulsanne-based convertibles

Toyota tells KY employees it's cheaper to build the Camry in Japan

Toyota warned employees at its Kentucky factory that it's cheaper to build the Camry in Japan than in America. It stressed the plant needs to cut costs, Bloomberg reports. "I'm not sharing this to scare you, but to heighten your awareness of the current risk we now have," said the plant manager.
