Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch the A-Class in the United States for the first time. The first-ever A-Class sedan will be the company's entry-level model when it goes on sale here next year, slotting below the CLA. "We truly believe that now with the body style we have the right answer for the market," global brand chief Britta Seeger told Automotive News.

Subaru prices WRX STI Type RA, BRZ tS

Subaru has released pricing information for the WRX STI Type RA and the BRZ tS, two limited-edition models it's launching for the 2018 model year. The Type RA costs $49,885 once a mandatory $860 destination charge is factored in. The tS starts at $33,495. Production of each model is limited to 500 examples.

Polestar 1 going on sale next year

Polestar will begin taking orders for the 1, its plug-in hybrid coupe, in early 2018. The auto-maker -- which is owned by Volvo parent company Geely -- has also confirmed it will open the first standalone Polestar dealerships halfway through 2019. Bidding is currently up to $311,000 with about six days left before the end of the auction, so this rare Italian could cross the $500,000 threshold.

The government's new tax bill keeps the $7,500 credit given to buyers who purchase an electric car, according to an anonymous source who spoke to Bloomberg. The House proposed getting rid of the credit as part of a broader tax cut plan.

Alpine begins A110 production

Alpine has started building the A110, its first car since the mid-1990s, in its historic Dieppe, France, factory. The company invested over 35 million euros (about $41 million) into the facility to build the Porsche Cayman-fighting coupe.

Final McLaren Senna sells for $2.67M

McLaren sold the final Senna build slot for $2.67 million. The proceeds from sale will be donated to charity. To put that figure into perspective, the other 499 examples of the sold-out supercar retailed for about $1 million each.
